The 2026 Halloween Seasonal Guide
Welcome to October, horror fans! The Preseason has done its job, the pumpkins are out, and it's officially time to settle in for our annual descent into the darkness.
This year, we're bringing you 31(ish) movies covering just about every corner of the horror universe. We've got new releases, old favorites, familiar nightmares, supernatural shenanigans, and enough slashers to make you think twice about answering the door.
As always, everything can be streamed from the comfort of your own home horror cave. So whether you're watching every night, picking your favorites, or just looking for something creepy to add to your October watch list, consider this your roadmap through the Halloween season.
And remember, there are no rules about watching horror movies in October. You can never have too much Halloween.
💀 Let the Halloween Moviefest Begin! 💀
The Classics Never Die
Some movies are simply part of the Halloween experience. They don't need an introduction, and they certainly don't need an excuse to be watched again.
We're kicking things off with John Carpenter's original Halloween (1978), because what would October be without Michael Myers? Add in Trick 'r Treat, a movie that practically bottled up everything we love about Halloween, and you've got the seasonal spirit covered.
And if you prefer your classics with a psychological twist, The Silence of the Lambs and In the Mouth of Madness bring two very different kinds of nightmares to the lineup.
Then there's Bram Stoker's Dracula, Francis Ford Coppola's lavish 1992 interpretation of the legendary vampire tale. We'll also be taking a look at the newly released 2026 Dracula as well as the 2020 television miniseries. Apparently, we have a little vampire business to attend to this year.
New Blood: The 2026 Harvest 🩸
A new year means a new crop of horror, and we've got plenty of fresh faces making their way into this year's Moviefest.
The 2026 lineup includes Cold Storage, Evil Dead Burn, Scream 7, Obsession, Ready or Not 2: Here I Come, Hokum, My Best Friend's Dead, The Backrooms, Over Your Dead Body, Lee Cronin's The Mummy, Insidious: Out of the Further, and Resident Evil.
That's a lot of new blood, and we're not complaining.
Some familiar franchises are back to give us another round of scares, while other titles are bringing something new to the table. We're particularly looking forward to seeing how some of these new releases hold up when they're all gathered together for a proper Halloween viewing.
And if you've been following along with the Preseason, you already know a few of these titles have been on our radar. Now they get to join the main event.
Familiar Nightmares & Unfinished Business
You know those movies that leave you wanting just one more chapter? Or the ones that make you wonder what happened after the credits rolled?
This year, we're revisiting a few familiar worlds.
The Black Phone 2 brings us back into the supernatural territory of its predecessor, while Wes Craven's New Nightmare gives us a wonderfully twisted take on the horror genre itself. And because we can't seem to get enough of people making questionable decisions, I Know What You Did Last Summer returns for a reboot of secrets and consequences.
We're also checking in with Ghostbusters: Afterlife, which brings a little supernatural adventure and nostalgia into the mix. Not everything has to be terrifying, right?
Well, almost everything.
Things That Go Bump in the Night 👻
Sometimes the best horror movies are the ones that make you uncomfortable in your own home.
This category is for the creepy, the supernatural, and the things you really don't want lurking in the corner of your bedroom.
The Conjuring is a seasonal favorite that reminds us why the paranormal investigation business is probably best left to someone else. Sinister brings a unique dose of unsettling found-footage-inspired horror, while The Grudge delivers on the Japanese-inspired brand of supernatural misery.
We'll also be spending some time with Insidious: Out of the Further, Hokum, and our fan favorite, The Witching Season. And for something a little different, Halloween Party joins the lineup.
If you like your horror with a side of unexplained noises, dark hallways, and things that probably shouldn't be moving, this collection is for you.
A Little Something Different
Not every Halloween movie needs to be a straight-up horror film. Sometimes we need a little comedy, a little mystery, or something that doesn't quite fit into a neat little box.
Little Evil brings some dark comedy into the mix, while Constantine gives us demons, angels, and a healthy dose of supernatural action.
Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark takes us back to the stories that made childhood sleepovers a little more interesting, and 10/31 Part III offers another anthology-style collection for fans of The Witching Season who enjoy their scares in smaller doses
And then there's Identity. If you've seen it, you know. If you haven't, I'm not saying another word.
We'll round out this collection with The Black Phone 2? No, we've already visited that particular nightmare. Instead, make room for Over Your Dead Body, which gives this year's lineup another opportunity to surprise us.
The Final Countdown 🎃
By the time we reach the end of October, we've traveled through vampires, slashers, demons, ghosts, psychological nightmares, and a few places that probably don't show up on any respectable travel map.
We've revisited some favorites, welcomed some new arrivals, and hopefully discovered a few movies worth adding to the permanent Halloween rotation.
That's really what this season is all about. Finding those movies that make October feel like October, whether it's your hundredth viewing of Halloween or the first time you've stumbled across something completely unexpected.
So light the candles, stock up on the Halloween snacks, and get comfortable. We've got a full month of horror ahead of us.

We'll see you in the Crypt. Until then, keep the lights low, the popcorn popping, and whatever you do...
Don't answer the door. 🦇
