Welcome to the 2026 Halloween Moviefest
We are at the point in the season where the warm-up is over, the pumpkins are out, lights are glowing, candy is on the shelves, and the preseason gives way to the main event.
For the next 31 days we are leaning all the way into Halloween with a movie lineup designed to cover just about every corner of the horror universe. Classic slashers. Supernatural nightmares. Gothic horror. Creature features. Psychological thrillers. Horror-comedies. New releases. Old favorites. And a few movies that are probably best described as, “Well… this should be interesting.”
Because Halloween isn’t just one kind of scary. And neither is our watch list.
The Classics Are Coming Out to Play
Some movies simply belong on a Halloween calendar.
Halloween is obviously one of them. John Carpenter’s 1978 classic is required viewing around here when the calendar hits October.
Then there’s Trick ‘r Treat, The Conjuring, Sinister, Identity, The Silence of the Lambs, In the Mouth of Madness and Constantine—movies that each bring their own flavor of darkness to the party.
And because we can never resist a little gothic atmosphere, we’re also revisiting Bram Stoker’s Dracula alongside the 2026 Dracula and the Dracula television miniseries.
Because, one Dracula simply isn’t enough.
The New Blood 🩸
Of course, Halloween wouldn't be Halloween without seeing what the newest generation of horror has been cooking up.
This year’s seasonal menu brings plenty of 2026 releases into the Crypt. Titles like including Cold Storage, Evil Dead Burn, Scream 7, Obsession, Ready or Not 2: Here I Come, Hokum, My Best Friend's Dead, The Backrooms, I Know What You Did Last Summer, Over Your Dead Body, Lee Cronin's The Mummy, Insidious: Out of the Further and Resident Evil.
Some new releases have already made their way through the Preseason - maybe leave us wondering exactly what we just watched - but the best are getting their chance to prove themselves under the Halloween lights.
That's part of the fun.
A Little Bit of Everything 👻
The Halloween Moviefest isn't trying to stick to one particular flavor of horror.
Want something creepy but fun? Little Evil and Ghostbusters: Afterlife have you covered.
Want something darker? Try The Grudge, Sinister or The Black Phone 2.
Feeling nostalgic? Wes Craven's New Nightmare and Halloween are ready to bring back some familiar screams.
Looking for something a little more offbeat? The Witching Season, 10/31 Part III, In the Mouth of Madness, and Halloween Party are waiting in the shadows.
And then there are the movies that make you wonder whether Halloween itself has gone slightly off the rails.
Those might be the most fun of all.
The Halloween Countdown Begins 🎃
There’s something different about watching horror movies in October. Maybe it's the darkness coming earlier. Maybe it's the decorations outside. Maybe it's the fact that every trip to the grocery store suddenly involves walking past an entire aisle of Halloween candy that you absolutely do not need.
Or maybe it's just knowing that everyone else is finally catching up with us.
For an entire month, horror gets to be the main event.
So turn down the lights. Light the candles. Grab the popcorn. Lock the doors. And maybe check the back seat before you get out of the car.
Because this year's Halloween Moviefest is packed.
Thirty-one nights. Thirty-one movies. And one very long descent into darkness.
The pumpkins are glowing. The screams are waiting. Halloween has arrived and the Crypt is open.
Let the Moviefest begin. 🎃
